Developing a Chronology in FDV (Family and Domestic Violence) Cases

Training Overview: 

This training focuses on the critical skill of developing a detailed and accurate chronology in Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) cases. Participants will learn the importance of constructing a clear, fact-based timeline of events to support case investigations, legal proceedings, and interventions. The training covers strategies for gathering evidence, documenting incidents, and organising information in a way that highlights patterns of abuse, risk, and escalation.

Training Outcomes: 

By the end of the training, participants will be able to: 

1. Understanding the Role of Chronology: Exploring why a well-developed chronology is essential in FDV cases, including its impact on safety planning, legal advocacy, and victim support.
2. Data Collection Techniques: Best practices for collecting reliable evidence from various sources such as testimonies, medical records, police reports, and other documentation.
3. Identifying Patterns and Risk Factors: Training participants to recognise patterns of abuse and escalation, including behaviours that may indicate increased danger for the victim.
4. Legal and Ethical Considerations: How to ensure that the chronology respects privacy rights while being fully compliant with legal standards and ethical guidelines.

By the end of this training, participants will have enhanced skills in creating comprehensive chronologies that can aid in victim-survivor protection, advocacy, perpetrator visibility, and securing legal outcomes in FDV cases.
