Description

About the Event

Domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) disproportionately impacts people with disability as they continue to experience violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The findings of the Disability Royal Commission highlighted the scale of this issue, and it remains a critical concern across Queensland.

This in-person roundtable in Mount Isa is designed to create a safe space to talk about it. The roundtable will bring together local domestic and family violence workers, advocates, and other community workers.

What to expect

  • Open, facilitated discussions in a respectful, inclusive environment

  • Opportunities to share lived experience and community insight

  • Conversations focused on local challenges and solutions

  • Connection with others working towards safer, more inclusive communities.

Topics

  • The current context in Queensland, including both interpersonal and institutional violence

  • Local experiences and service gaps in Mount Isa and the surrounding areas

  • Emerging issues, ideas, and priorities for change

  • Strengthening knowledge of rights and how to support people with disability to live free from violence.

Who Should Attend

This roundtable is designed for:

  • People with disability who have lived experience of domestic, family, or sexual violence and want to share insights, ideas, or solutions
