Diabetes NZ Auckland Youth: Skate & Chill

Diabetes NZ Auckland Youth would like to invite youth and young adults living with diabetes (T1 & T2) aged 11-25 years, to come to a fun night out at Paradice Ice Skating in Avondale. Catch up and chillout.

Parents are welcome to stay for a chat and drink at the cafe with other parents.

The official skate session begins at 7:30 pm, however we are able to meet from 7-7:15 pm to check off attendance and sort out skate sizing. The official skate session closes at 10:30 pm, however we will wrap our event at 9:30-9:45 pm. People can stay longer if they wish in their own capacity (with a parent or if over 18). During our event we will have adult and Youth Leader supervision on and off the ice.

Please note the Paradice Ice Skating rink is open to the public. However, this particular session is aimed at youth/young adults in general. We will have our own area set up in the stands where you can leave gear, meet, enjoy a snack or have a break to treat any hypo.

Please bring your own diabetes supplies, a water bottle, plus very warm clothing including socks, gloves and hat, as it is icy cold!

Ice skates are provided, as well as some evening snacks, but please have dinner before arrival.

Parents wishing to stay to chat in the cafe are welcome to purchase their own food and drink. Parents can stay the whole time or just part of the time but must register themselves, so we know numbers please.

Payment is via registration and is subsidised via our community fundraising efforts. Cost is $18.40 incl. GST. However, as with all our events, we do not want financial barriers to prevent attendance, so please get in touch to arrange in confidence.
