    Event description

***Please note: This event has been canceled as of 30/9/23 due to low registration. We will reschedule the event for a time in November.

This no-cost, in-person workshop is the ninth in the City of Whittlesea's Sustainable Communities Workshop Series for 2023.

In this workshop, Lisa Conley, Environmental Educator for Sustainability at CoW will lead a session grounded in the understanding of biophilia, or love of nature and living things. During the workshop attendees will do some nature sketching, observe the environment outdoors, and create a handicraft with found natural materials.

Attendees will leave the workshop with a handicraft and a nature observation guide they can complete on their own, or with others.

The group will discuss the nature/happiness connection and the role of observation as a starting point for becoming a conservationist or environmental steward.

    • Children between 10-18 years old are welcomed to participate but must attend with a carer and be supervised at all times.
    • If it is raining or warm, we will still go outside, so please bring rain or sun gear if needed.

The CoW Sustainable Communities Workshop Series aims to up-skill City of Whittlesea community members in the art of sustainable, climate-resilient living and community-building.

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to be entered into a prize drawing at the series' end. Every workshop participant will also receive a certificate of recognition for their participation and have the opportunity to share their learnings and creations at the celebration showcase in November 2023.

Contact lisa.conley@whittlesea.vic.gov.au with questions or to view the full series schedule.

The City of Whittlesea Council acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Wurundjeri Willum Clan and Taungurung Peoples and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
