About the Speaker:

Andrew's journey into mental health awareness began after a 16-year career in the Australian Army, where he held demanding positions in both the Infantry and Special Forces. He has experienced firsthand the mental health challenges associated with domestic and international deployments, separation from family, and moving interstate for service requirements. After leaving Defence, Andrew expanded his experience by providing services to both private and government organizations in sectors such as mining, security, emergency services, health, and education.

Andrew is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health concerns, adopting a proactive, preventive, and strength-based approach. He is dedicated to creating a safe and interactive learning environment in his courses, and his real-world experience combined with an engaging presentation style enables him to connect with diverse audiences effectively.

Andrew is certified as a High Adversity Resilience Training (HART), Resilience First Aid (RFA), and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor. Since April 2023, he has trained hundreds of DFES personnel, imparting essential skills to support mental health and well-being. Many of these trainees are veterans, highlighting AEP's capability to deliver psychoeducational courses tailored to those with military backgrounds. This expertise underscores their proficiency in addressing the distinct needs of the veteran community.
