We’re Lucas and Reilly — old friends, collaborators, and lifelong film obsessives.

Double Featch began years ago when we were living together, making films, and constantly bouncing ideas off each other. Movie nights became a ritual: a way to unwind, explore ideas, and fuel our creative projects. Over time, they evolved into something deeper — a space to investigate themes in cinema through thoughtful, sometimes unexpected film pairings.

We both hold certificates in filmmaking and film theory, and we treat each Double Featch not just as a screening, but as an intellectual and aesthetic experience. Each night is built around a theme — sometimes broad, sometimes hyper-specific — and we pair two films that speak to it in unique ways. The connections might be conceptual, stylistic, historical, or personal. Sometimes we start with a theme; sometimes the films choose it for us.

We introduce each night with context and commentary, and the post-screening discussion is just as important as what’s on the screen. Short films, video clips, records, and music videos often round out the experience — because cinema doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
