Draping & Pattern Making Workshop – Design in 3D
Description
Draping & Pattern Making Workshop – Design in 3D
Step away from flat patterns and discover a whole new way to design!
In this hands-on workshop you'll learn how fashion designers transform ideas into garments by working directly on the dress form.
Through creative draping, experimentation and pattern development, you'll gain a deeper understanding of garment shape, balance and construction while bringing your own design ideas to life.
Whether you've always wanted to design your own clothing or you're looking to expand your creative skills, this workshop is designed to inspire creativity and build confidence.
Throughout the day you'll:
• Experiment with a range of fabrics to see how different textiles behave.
• Learn the fundamentals of creative draping on a dress form.
• Explore silhouette, proportion and garment balance.
• Create a taped bodice directly on the mannequin.
• Transfer your taped design into a reusable paper pattern.
• Learn simple pattern manipulation techniques to create multiple design variations.
• Finish the day by bringing your new design back to life on the mannequin.
This workshop focuses on the design process rather than sewing, making it perfect for anyone interested in fashion, costume, bridal, lingerie, or creating their own unique garments.
