Why make a goddess doll?
For many women, this is simply a wonderful and creative way to spend a day - taking time out to nurture yourself. And making a goddess doll can also help you to
relax your nervous system and feel more grounded due to the rhythmic nature of needle felting
celebrate your connection to Mother Earth
be for fertility dreaming or your birthing altar
invoke the birthing of ideas
or honour your transition to motherhood - matrescence. In fact, it can be a celebration of motherhood and mothering in its many forms. And your doll does not need to have a pregnant belly!
About the facilitator
Hi - I'm Arzu. I'm passionate about sharing my love of needle felting fluffy wool into form and creating beautiful and nurturing spaces for women to gather & create!
For over 16 years I have dedicated my life to teaching needle felting & sewing workshops and selling my boutique craft kits online. There is currently a 4-month wait on my bespoke medicine doll commissions.
You can also find me teaching at many local events incl Woodford Folk Festival & Knitfest Fibre Festival.
When I'm not felting, I'm often foraging on bushwalks, tinkering in my garden, tending my medicinal plants, dancing, mothering two fine young men or smiling my way through my most recent hobby - pickle-ball!
The space I hold and step by step tuition I offer will allow you to relax into the process whilst also allowing creativity to more effortlessly flow through you. I promise!
What can I expect from the flow of the day?
We arrive a little early to settle in and take in the beautiful surroundings. We start in the garden and are taken through a guided visualisation. We begin to build the form of the body and break for a delicious morning tea. Then somewhere between the head and the breasts :) we share a pot-luck lunch.
In the afternoon there is the much-anticipated hair tutorial in which I share all my tricks for creating stunning hairstyles. There is much magic in the hair - and at this point she will really come to life! The remainder of the time is spent adorning her. You will be held by carefully curated tunes and lovely company throughout the day and a limitless supply of tisanes and teas.
The nature of our conversations and workshop duration mean this workshop is for adults only.
Group size is limited to 8 to create a more intimate gathering, more focussed 1:1 tuition and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Travelling interstate?
Most workshops have at least one woman who has flown interstate or driven a great distance to join us. For that I am so very grateful. We are 20 mins from the Ocean. And Eumundi, where my home and studio are based, is a famous market town, so there are Many wonderful B&B and guest-house options to choose from. Some even offer discounts when you mention you are doing my workshop. Message me to find out which ones before you book. The closest airport is Maroochydore Sunshine Coast, a short 30 min drive away. Brisbane is 1hr 20 mins south.
