Editing and Publishing Masterclass with Bernadette Foley
Event description
This intensive workshop with esteemed publisher and editor Bernadette Foley will help you to understand what publishers are looking for in a new book pitch. It will teach you how to identify the audience for your book, and how to refine your topic or concept.
Understanding what publishers are looking for, how to identify the audience for your book, and how to refine your topic or concept.
Writing is satisfying and creative, and that’s a great reason to do it. If you want to take it further and write a book that people will read, you need to work out who those readers will be. This involves asking the essential questions: Who (are they)?, What (your book will give them)?, How (to reach them)?
We’ll discuss your answers, then work out how to present your book’s content to suit your audience. Next, we’ll consider the role of publishers in bringing books to the readers. They make decisions based on passion and taste, profit and loss, and a deep understanding of the market. We’ll explore what publishers and looking for and why.
Includes a catered lunch.
