The Botanic Gardens & State Herbarium of South Australia holds 100 Australian wildflower paintings by Ellis Rowan, many of which depict flora endemic to South Australia. But why did Rowan create this substantial body of work, and how was the collection secured for the people of South Australia? Join David Roche Gallery Director Robert Reason and Curator Timothy Roberts for this talk exploring this story, and other noteworthy moments throughout Rowan’s long engagement with the people, places, and plants of South Australia.

Robert Reason is Director, David Roche Gallery and Timothy Roberts is Curator, David Roche Gallery. Together they curated the exhibition Nature Revealed: Rosa Fiveash & Ellis Rowan and contributed texts on the works of these inspiring artists to the exhibition publication.
