This workshop is workshop #2 in a series of three workshops.
This workshop series is designed to set a solid foundation for you across 3 sessions - from job search to interview prep to staying in the job, giving you the tools you need not just to land a job, but to stay employed and reach your goals.
This is a series of three workshops. Participants should plan to attend all three sessions.
Session 2: Preparing for the Interview
Wednesday 14 October, 1:00pm to 3:00pm
A closer look at the interview process, including the fears and nerves that come with interviews and how to manage them, what employers are actually looking for, and practical ways to prepare such as the STAR Method. This session runs as an open discussion, with space for you to bring your own questions, including navigating disclosure as a gender diverse person, on your own terms.
Who is it for:
Transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary folks age 18+
You're currently looking for paid work, or want to build the skills and confidence to find and keep work
About the facilitator:
Santiago Ruiz (he/they) is a trans man and workplace inclusion specialist passionate about helping transgender people access paid employment, build financial independence, and reach their goals. With over a decade in corporate finance, including more than 10 years directly involved in hiring decisions, followed by three years working in inclusive employment services helping LGBTQIA+ jobseekers with barriers to employment find and keep paid work, Santi brings a rare, first hand view from both sides of the employment equation: someone who has hired, and someone who has helped people get hired. He is now Operations Manager at LF Facility Group, a heart led inclusive facilities company creating job opportunities for people from the LGBTQIA+ community and Allies with barriers to employment.
As Santi puts it:
"We know barriers to employment for Trans people is very real. I'm not here to pretend there are no hurdles, I'm here to say let's jump them together. With your resilience and the support we get from our community, we will break down these hurdles by becoming the people who work, manage, and hire."
