Essence Life Drawing - Miami Vice

Welcome back to Essence Life Drawing round 3 !

This month our model is Dirtiest Martini who chose the theme Miami Vice.
“DJ TANTO” will be on the decks playing songs from the classic 80s Miami Vice soundtrack.

You may have watched the TV show or played the Grand Theft Auto game…
This will be a really fun night of indulging in 80s New Wave culture.

No television series represented the style or dominant cultural
aesthetic of the 1980s as fully or indelibly as Miami Vice. A
popular one-hour police drama that aired on NBC from 1984
to 1989, Miami Vice was in one sense a conventional buddy-cop
show—not unlike Dragnet, Adam 12, or Starsky and Hutch—
featuring an interracial pair of narcotics detectives who wage a
weekly battle against an urban criminal underworld. But the
look and feel of the series—a mixture of flashy production
values, music-video-style montages, and extensive use of Mia-
mi's beachfront locales and Art Deco architecture—elevated
Miami Vice from standard cops-and-robbers fare to bona fide
television phenomenon in the middle part of the decade. In its
insistence that a TV show's style, sound, and attitude mattered
more than its substance, Miami Vice spawned a host of imita-
tors; sparked trends in the fashion, recording, and tourism
industries; and helped transform the traditional face of broadcast
television by appealing to a young, urban viewership that was,
according to one of the show's directors,

interested in images, emotions, and energy than plot and

Our models pick their own themes and the artists are encouraged to collaborate between each other if they are inspired to do so. 
The more we work together, the more possibilities we can discover for the life drawing community.

No pressure ! All skill levels are welcome. Let’s have some fun.

Art supplies are available at the session but generally it is suggested to bring your favourite materials with you.
There is lots of table space, some stools and beanbags. Feel free to bring your own easel if you have a portable one. 
We look forward to seeing you there.

The “Little Homey” bar will be open again serving delicious cocktails and standard drinks.
Get a drink before class or during the breaks. 
We had so much fun that the class has been extended by 30 mins just for socialising.
