Etching #1 - Hard ground and soft ground

Learn the traditional etching techniques that artists have employed for centuries.  Discover how the ‘old masters’ made their marks on copper plates using hard-ground and soft-ground techniques. Explore and experiment with different methods of mark marking, drawing and printing methods.

The course covers copper plate preparation and the application of grounds, plate processing, and paper preparation. Participants will learn how to use an etching press, along with registration techniques to print their own original prints.
