Event description

Sunday 21st September 2025 | 2 sessions: 10am–12pm or 2pm–4pm
Kahu Collective, 186 Shaw Ave, New Brighton, Ōtautahi
$45 per person | $80 for 2 people (excl. GST & BF)
Limited to 10 spaces per session

A practical and nourishing workshop designed especially for māmā, caregivers at home remedy enthusiasts, who want to learn simple rongoā remedies for everyday home use. This wānanga is all about skin health and family wellbeing – sharing the wisdom of native plants and creating your own healing hinu (oil) and pani (balm) to take home.

🌿 What You’ll Learn & Create

We will prepare a skin oil blend using four powerful rākau:

  • Kānuka – gentle and soothing, ideal for cuts, scrapes and calming irritated skin.

  • Kawakawa – our classic healer for dry skin, eczema, and general whānau skin support.

  • Horopito – antifungal and protective, perfect for conditions like thrush or stubborn rashes.

  • Kopakopa – soft and nourishing, traditionally used for baby massage, nappy rash, and soothing delicate skin.

You’ll also learn basic rongoā practices for common home needs, including:
✨ Baby care and māmā recovery
✨ Nappy rash, fungal issues and “dad rash” comfort
✨ Simple, safe ways to use rongoā in everyday life

🌸 Who Is This For?

Māmā, wāhine, and caregivers who want practical tools for at-home healing. No prior knowledge of rongoā needed – just an open heart to learn, connect, and take home remedies you can trust.

🌕 Why This Day?

We are holding this wānanga on Maure, a maramataka phase that supports connection and learning – the perfect energy for gathering, sharing knowledge, and building wellbeing for our whānau.

🌿 Haere mai e te māmā – this is your time to learn, heal, and carry these rongoā gifts home.
