Animation: The Art of Character Design: An Immersive Animation Workshop Experience	Discover the artistry and magic of character design in animation! Join us for an immersive workshop that will take you on a captivating journey into the world of creating memorable animated characters. Led by the Animation Society, this hands-on experience will equip you with an understanding of the animation course at UTS, bringing you on an exciting journey full of creativity.
Architecture: Bring out the Architect in you!	Join us and learn about the beautiful world of Architecture. Through a hands-on workshop, you will learn about amazing architectural projects; why architects play such a vital role in society and the different ways that Architects create genuine positive change in the world. You will be challenged to bring out the architect in you, and bring your ideas from your mind, to paper and then to reality. Whether you’re into art, design, or just love building things, this session will open your eyes to the world of architecture in a fun and interactive way.
Biomedical Engineering: Engineering the Body	Discover how engineering and healthcare come together in this engaging Biomedical Engineering workshop. Explore how engineers collaborate with doctors and researchers to develop life-changing technologies such as prosthetics, robotic surgery systems, medical imaging and implanted devices that enhance and support human life.
Business: Changing the way we do Business	Business is everywhere. Come along and see how your ideas can create new business concepts.
Campus Tour	The UTS campus is one of a kind, located right in the heart of Sydney's leading digital and creative precinct. Our experienced Student Ambassadors will lead you through the Broadway precinct, including a stop at the iconic Dr Chau Chak Building and the new UTS Central building. Please wear comfortable shoes.
Chemistry: Identifying Unknown Substances	Become a forensic chemist and identify a suspicious white substance. Students will use physical, chemical and infrared spectroscopic tests to analyse their unknown sample and discover how chemistry is used to rapidly identify unknown materials.
Civil & Environmental Engineering: Floating Houses	Step into the shoes of a humanitarian engineer and use your problem-solving skills to make a real impact! In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore how engineering can improve lives in marginalised communities by tackling global hygiene challenges. You'll define a real-world problem, brainstorm innovative solutions, and apply your mechanical know-how to develop a prototype.
Creative Intelligence and Innovation: Creative Leaps	This interactive workshop gives you a taste of what a Transdisciplinary Innovation course at UTS TD School is all about. Our unique style of learning and problem solving emphasises collaboration across the different disciplines. Explore the unknown, learn how to make creative leaps and have fun whilst tackling a creative brief with your innovative ideas.
Creative Intelligence and Innovation: Urban Innovation	Dive deep into urban challenges, exploring diverse perspectives and disciplines to pinpoint key areas of opportunity within our city. With our game storming framework and expert guidance, you'll unlock your creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills, joining us on an exciting quest to reshape our cityscape and drive meaningful change.
Creative Writing: Unleash the Writer Within!	How do writers get started? What kinds of practical tips can help? This workshop will introduce students to some creative writing exercises designed to get the writing flowing. Students will discover that an interesting piece of writing is never very far away! This hands-on writing experience will give students a taste of creative writing at UTS in a fun and supportive environment.
Discover Criminology at UTS: Real Student Insights & Opportunities	Curious about criminology? Join us for an introduction to studying criminology at UTS, with a current student sharing her experiences throughout the course and other programs. You'll get real insights and explore the unique opportunities UTS offers. With interactive activities, this session will spark your curiosity and help you imagine your future in criminology.
Digital and Social Media: Beyond the Social Media Ban	Join us for our Digital Social Media workshop and explore the essential role of data in today’s digital world. Learn how data shapes everything from social media to shopping habits. Gain crucial insights into privacy, consent, and become a savvy data expert, ready to navigate confidently through our data-driven society.
Economics: Build a nation	In this interactive workshop, students design and manage their own country, making decisions about resources, economic systems, and national priorities while responding to real-world challenges. Along the way, they apply key economic concepts like scarcity and opportunity cost to build a nation that reflects their chosen definition of success.
Environmental Science: Under the Heat	Become an environmental scientist and investigate the hidden heat around you. Students will use infrared thermometers to measure surface temperatures in natural and built spaces, compare their data, and explore how urban design shapes microclimates and environmental impact.
Food Science: The Science Behind Your Food	Become a food scientist and put everyday foods to the test. Students will analyse taste perception, compare sugar levels using refractometers, and assess egg freshness, discovering how science ensures food quality, safety and consistency.
Forensic Science: Who did it?	Be a forensic investigator and use scientific applications to solve crimes. Students will learn how to dust and collect fingerprints, analyse blood spatter, test for drugs and collect evidence, with the aim of building a solid case for the court of law.
Interaction Design; Information Technology: UX Sketch & Flow	This workshop introduces students to interaction design as a core discipline within Information Technology, where user actions are translated into system behaviour. Participants will design and prototype their own app wireframes while learning how digital products are structured before development begins.
Interior Architecture: Tape It. Tear It. Transform It. A Hands-On Interior Architecture Workshop	Interior Architecture explores the dynamic relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. As future designers, you're likely already immersed in a flood of interior imagery—scrolling, saving, and studying spaces from all over the world. Through a tactile and exploratory process—tracing, trimming, taping, tearing—you’ll engage with images, materials, and textures as tools for generating spatial ideas.
Journalism: Broadcast Workshop	Experience the excitement of broadcast journalism in our bespoke TV studio. Participate in hands-on activities and discover the impact and thrill of journalism firsthand.
Journalism: I write the news	Join our journalism workshop, guided by UTS students and lecturers. Learn how to identify news, conduct interviews, and write a short news story.
Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research: Community to Campus: Pathways to University	This interactive workshop is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who want to explore their options in a relaxed, welcoming and culturally safe space at Jumbunna. Please join us for a yarn, hear from our Indigenous Student Ambassadors about life at UTS and have the opportunity to participate in a hands on cultural activity.
Landscape Architecture: Designing Urban Experiences	Get a hands-on studio practice to learn how landscape and public space can unify complex urban environments, balancing environmental needs with those of contemporary society and culture
Law: Justice is Served!	The jury is present, the judge enters, the prosecution and defence lawyers give their opening statements and the examination of witnesses begins. Experience what it feels like to appear in court by role-playing in a mock trial. Learn about legal issues, rebut your opponents’ arguments, and put your legal arguments to the test!
Law: To Sue Or Not To Sue?	You’ve seen Law on TV – fought on the battlefield of the courtroom. But have you ever thought about Law outside the courtroom? Mediation is one of the ways to resolve disputes outside the courtroom. In this workshop, you will work together on a case to resolve a dispute and reach a solution between two parties.
Management: The Experience Economy	Explore the experience economy where sports, events, entrepreneurship, and sustainability meet! Discover how you can make a positive impact and reduce negative effects by studying real-world examples of major events. Get ready for interactive discussions and hands-on activities that will help you design your own sustainable experiences. Learn how to leave a positive mark on the environment and society while building your skills in event planning and sustainability.
Marketing: Pitch Perfect	Think like a marketer and get creative by producing new advertising ideas for some familiar products.
Mathematics: How tall is the victim?	Ever wondered how maths can help solve real-world mysteries? In this workshop, you’ll collect your own data and build a model to predict a person’s height using only the circumference of a skull. You’ll also explore how mathematics and statistics are used to create and apply prediction models.
Media Arts and Production Workshop: MAP Gear Expo	Lights, camera, action! Find out why our Media Arts and Production course is so highly regarded by industry in this hands-on workshop. Join us in our film studio and be part of a crew as we shoot a scene on set using the latest cinema cameras and lights.
Microbiology: All the Small Things	Put the exciting world of microbiology under the microscope as students conduct experiments on bacteria and experience what it is like to be a hospital scientist and a food safety scientist.
Midwifery: Catching Babies	Dreaming of the midwife life? Visit our clinicial labs to get practical and learn how midwives provide care to pregnant women and their families.
Music and Sound Design: Exploring Music and Sound Recording	Get hands-on experience in our Music and Sound Design studios and learn how to record foley sounds for a short film using industry-standard sound equipment.
Nursing: Life in the Hospital	Nurses have to be ready for anything. Experience life on the wards with hands-on duties in our clinical labs – which look and feel exactly like the inside of a hospital.
Physics: Waves in Light and Matter	Waves in light and matter: investigating wave phenomena from the quantum to the macroscale. Students will explore wave phenomena involving coherent light and the electromagnetic spectrum
Product Design: You and LEGO against the world!	Guide high school students through the industrial design process using LEGO to solve a real-world problem, exploring ideation, sketching, and prototyping phases.
Public Relations and Advertising: GRAM IT: Online Publicity Campaign!	Immerse yourself in the world of strategic communication and creativity with GRAM IT! Explore the intricacies of crafting your own publicity campaign, from handpicking the ideal public figures to designing captivating creative assets and crafting persuasive messaging. Become the architect of a masterpiece as you launch your campaign into the digital realm and witness the impact of your creativity unfold.
Social and Political Sciences: Political Communication in the Digital Age	Dive into the changing world of political communication, from traditional methods to today’s digital era. In this workshop, you’ll learn how AI and new technologies are shaping politics. Discover the influence of online personalities and explore how digital media affects elections and public opinions. Get hands-on experience in understanding how digital platforms and AI are changing the way we talk about politics!
Social and Political Sciences: Apps, Platforms, Politics. Or, What Your Uber Driver Can Tell You About Economics and Society	In this session, students will participate in multimedia activities (an online game, news story, and video analysis) to develop critical perspectives on the impacts of technology, such as AI, on society and work. Students will then do a policy workshop to address the issues identified in the previous activities.
Sport and Exercise Science: 10 Minutes in the Life of a Sports Scientist	Step into the world of Sport and Exercise Science with a fast‑paced, hands‑on workshop! Students rotate through three stations to assess injuries, measure real body data, test performance, and explore how the brain and body work together, giving you a fun and practical taste of how sports scientists help people move better and perform at their best.
The Sustainability Challenge: Big ideas for a greener world	Are you passionate about creating a more sustainable world? In this workshop you’ll tackle a real-world sustainability challenge, teaming up to develop a product that could help a mystery global company reduce its environmental footprint. If you love solving problems, thinking big, or imagining a better future, this workshop will show you how you can have a career with impact.
Visual Communication: Speaking in Images	Explore the foundational principles and studio experiences of the Visual Communication degree, engage in exercises that highlight the relationship between images and text, and gain insight into the life of a Visual Communication student.
