Imagine your fridge telling you you've run out of milk...or even better, ordering you another carton! From wearable devices to home automation the Internet of Things is about to transform the way we live and work.

35 billion devices online by the end of 2021...and a projected 75 billion by 2025!

But what IS the "Internet of Things"? 

And what sort of IoT projects are happening right here in WA? And why is NASA getting involved? We will uncover all these topics and more in this wide-ranging panel discussion featuring the fascinating WA women at the forefront of IoT in industry, the home and security.

Held in the fabulous event space at NEXTDC, you will also have the opportunity to join an exclusive tour of their data centre and network with other amazing women.

Meet our speakers and panel:

Emma Eltringham

Emma is a leader and Technologist at Woodside Energy within the Intelligent Assets team.

Initially trained as a Geomatic Engineer, she started her career as a Geospatial Analyst using and demonstrating the power of spatial data.

Now she is working with Woodside’s innovation team to develop “FUSE” - a digital plant surveillance solution that fuses data science, 4D visualisation, IoT, secure wireless sensors and robotics to provide “greater than human awareness”.

Emma is passionate about using Technology to improve our world and innovate the way we work.

Hannah McKelvie

Hannah is a multi-award-winning Cyber Optimisation Principal & DevSecOps Manager at Telstra.

In 2019 she won the prestigious honour of Australia’s Female Secure Coder of the Year.

Her background in Cognitive Science gives her a strong understanding of people and technology; enabling her to bridge the gap between IT and Business, facilitating clear communication between the different groups.

Hannah's experience encompasses the software industry spectrum, from solution architecture, development, deployment to front-end users, and now Cyber Security.

Sarah James

Sarah James is a dynamic and energetic author, innovator and Practice Partner with DXC Technology. Sarah has over 20 years’ of delivery excellence and experience in Analytics, AI, IoT and Data and their use within technology and engineering.

Sarah has worked all over the world, monitoring volcanoes in Hawaii, analysing traffic data in Sydney, petrol stations in Romania, Flood Mapping in the UK and Mining data for Optimisation in Perth. 

Sarah is also the co-founder of Jacaranda Hill Farm - an off-grid, sustainable farm in the Darling Ranges that is using IoT innovations to be be WA's first tech-focused permaculture farm open to visitors and campers.
