Body image disturbance (BID) - the distortion in the way that we experience our body - is a hallmark of most eating disorders, contributing to onset, maintenance and relapse. It is also one of the symptoms of an eating disorder that is hardest to treat in a meaningful and enduring way as it often goes beyond behavioural change. Researchers at Swinburne University are investigating psilocybin-assisted therapy as a potential treatment for body image disturbance, with a world-first trial currently running for women with partially recovered anorexia nervosa.
This webinar will cover:
- Why new treatments are required for body image disturbance
- Some of the elements of psilocybin that may be helpful in treating BID
- A closer look at the Swinburne trial, emBodIeD
- Early insights into the potential risks and benefits of PAP for individuals who have an ED* Please note, as this trial is currently running, we are unable to share results at this time.
