Exploring the Middle Realm - A Journey into the Heart- "Where 2 worlds meet"
Event description
The talk will examine the impulse for the Joseph Beuys Café, the influence that Rudolf Steiner had on Joseph Beuys and the impact both individuals have had on Ian Georges work.
We will explore some significant works of Joseph Beuys, who was considered by Sean Rainbird, Senior Curator TATE Modern, as one of the most significant artists since WWII.
The artwork ‘Sulphur-Covered Zinc Box (Plugged Corner) and Zinc Box 1974’, which is part of the Joseph Beuys Cafe collection, will be discussed in its relationship towards a journey to the heart. Words from Mabel Collins will reinforce the significance of pairs of opposites in this journey, so powerfully presented in the work of Beuys and indeed Rudolf Steiner.
This will lead us to questions of the meaning and purpose of earth evolution where we will touch on the connection between Beuys and the Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci and the retelling of aspects of the Wolfram von Eschenbach’s Parsifal Story as a motif in the struggle for a life of conscious participation and meaning in the current social environment.
