Extreme Crochet Woollen Basket Workshop

Event description

Join creative Amy Edwards from The Knot Collective for an Extreme Crochet Woollen Basket Workshop

Traditionally crochet uses a light to medium weight yarn, but we are taking crochet to the next level by using a super bulky weight yarn & giant crochet hook to create a beautiful chunky wool basket.

This 3 hour workshop is suitable for beginners, however using a delicate chunky yarn & extra large crochet hook, makes things a little tricker so be prepared to have patience and get an arm workout! Those with crochet knowledge are also welcome.

What you will learn:

  • Basic stitches of crochet - double crochet, slip stitch & chain stitch as well as the infamous 'magic circle' * crochet is taught in UK terms.
  • How to crochet in the round
  • How to create handles for your basket
  • Properties of wool & caring for your basket

What you are provided with:

  • 1kg of raw Australian Merino wool available in 4 colour options
  • 25mm crochet hook
  • Pattern booklet
  • Details of suppliers where you can purchase Australian Merino wool

About Amy Edwards

Amy is a Sydney basked creative specialising in creative workshops. She has a diploma in Fashion design, but has always had a soft spot for hang crafts and has been knitting since a young age - taught by her Mother and Grandmother.

After getting caught up in the busy Sydney lifestyle she has started exploring more crafts as a way to unwind and find some calm at the end of a busy day. Feeling the benefits of these creative outlets she decided to start "The Knot Collective".

"I want people to re-connect with themselves and find the joy of working and creating something with their own two hands".
