Living Futures: Trashion Talk and Button Mending
Event description
Alba Tijm is an Amsterdam raised, Sydney based sustainable fashion activist and designer.
With her organisation Trashion, she aims to educate people on the negative impacts of the fast fashion industry and sustainable consumption through talks, interactive programs and events such as clothes swaps and non-traditional sewing classes where she teaches people to up-cycle, repair and make.
Alba will discuss the fast fashion industry and provide some insights into creating a new brand of fashion where purposeful purchasing, mindful spending and slow fashion including repair, repurpose and up-cycling, take precedence over seasonal trends. A special 'button wall' will also be made available for adults and kids to practice their button repair under expert guidance from Alba.Â
This event is part of the North Sydney Living Futures Sustainability Festival.
