Applying for Music Teaching Positions Workshop
Great advice for applying for primary/secondary classroom and instrumental music teaching positions, and for addressing the KSC in both the written application and interview.
The Workshop
This workshop is aimed at supporting all music teachers who are looking to apply for music teacher positions now or in the future. Advice will be pertinent for experienced teachers thinking of making a change as well as graduate music teachers who are starting to apply for jobs.
The presentation will start with a focus on finding jobs, the written application process, and tips for preparing for and attending interviews. There will be a focus on approaches to addressing the Key Selection Criteria in the written applications and interviews. Using real-world examples, the criteria will be unpacked by expert teachers with a vast array of experience in selection panels, both within music and broader school roles. Experienced music teachers who are looking to apply for new positions and would like a refresh are also welcome to join us.
If you have ever:
looked at the Department of Education key selection criteria and been overwhelmed or baffled
struggled to apply selection questions to an instrumental music positions, or
been daunted by the buzzwords and eduspeak in writing your application
Then this session is for you!
