Feel Safe: Protective Behaviours for Young Adults
Event description
This workshop is an expansion of our introductory training, Boundary Setting and Protective Behaviours. Whereas many Protective Behaviours trainings focus on the education and engagement of children, this workshop targets strategies and skills of teaching Protective Behaviours to young adults.Â
Our full day workshop will address complex components of Protective Behaviours including problem solving and emergencies, wanted and unwanted touch, internet safety and pornography.
A central feature of this training will be an introduction to SECCA's newly updated 'Feel Safe' resource. The 'Feel Safe' resource addresses all of the topics listed above through various modes including eLearning, videos and hardcopy materials. It was co-designed with young adults with disabilities and contains the key elements that they asked to be included.
This workshop is for health professionals, teachers, parents and carers.Â
This is a full day workshop with coffee/tea and a light morning tea. Please bring your own water bottle and lunch. We have a fridge and microwave that you're welcome to use.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is not subsidised by our Department of Health funding, consequently incurring a higher ticket price than some other SECCA workshops.Â
