Thanks for registering for the Cascade Falls Firefly & Glow Worm Nature Walk.

Essential items:

A torch, so you can safety exit the viewing area after dark. A torch with red cellophane over the front secured by a rubber band is even better, because red light does not disturb the fireflies.

Enclosed shoes. Sandals and thongs are not suitable footwear for the loose and sometimes wet terrain.

Where to meet:

Please meet in the Cascade Falls carpark at the base of Macquarie Pass at 7pm for a brief talk and then walk to the viewing area as a group. This event is covered by a National Parks Eco-Pass, and all participants must be supervised.

Cut-off time for the walk to the viewing area is 7:30pm.

The Cascade Falls area is part of a natural environment, and as such you will be exposed to wild plants and animals. There may be mosquitos, leaches and ticks. Enclosed footwear is essential and long pants/sleeves recommended. Insect repellant should be applied in the carpark.

Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times as there are deep waterways, steep drop-offs, and sensitive natural habitats. The path to the viewing area requires a moderate level of fitness and is not suitable for mobility limited people.

This is a National Park area, therefore take only photos and leave only footprints. Animals, insects, plants or natural environments should be interfered with. This means "no catching of fireflies or touching glow worms".

In the event of severe weather this walk may be cancelled, because fireflies don't like storms either!
