First Thursdays: Intro to Still Life Painting in Oil Paint with Anoushka Coulter
Event description
Join us for First Thursdays in Devonport - Te Hau Kapua
Join us in this introductory session to both painting from life and the medium of oil paint.
We will be painting a simple still life set up in the space, using the techniques of painting “alla prima” or ‘all at once’.
We will warm up the eye and hands with some quick preparatory drawings before moving into the basics of how to mix paint with the palette knife, colour match from observation and begin to build up the painting.
We will work up from basic shadows and shapes through the tonal ranges and end with highlights. By the end we will have a painting that we have created from direct observation.
Tickets are $55 and cover all materials and refreshments courtesy of our hospitality partners Man O’ War, Toi Toi and Swiftsure Vineyards.
This workshop is suitable for ages 15+.
Koha will be accepted upon entry.
