Flies are the Future

Event description

A futuristic fly farm that consumes mountains of food waste??? Sounds too good to be true. But thats exactly what Bardee a local a three-year-old ag-tech company has designed and developed with great success. Come along to this talk to learn how this Melbourne startup is capturing food waste from farms, factories and commercial facilities and turning it into plant fertiliser and animal feed using nothing but insects.

You will discover how using this world-leading fly technology is saving thousands of kilograms of food waste going to landfill each day, reducing one of the major source of greenhouse emissions and saving local businesses money in the process.  You will realise how insects are very much part of a sustainable future.  Bardee has already abated more than 6 million kg of CO2 equivalent – with the potential for much more if it successfully upscales.

You will never look at a fly the same again.

This talk is brought to you by Moonee Valley Sustainability a local not for profit community group.  This talk is on as part of Sustain-A-Valley, a monthly enviro hub where you can get items fixed, refill your cleaning products, recycle some of those tricker items and hang out with change makers over coffee!!

If you are able, we would be grateful of you could please make a donation to attend the event. Funds go to the cost of running the event and core costs of the organisation.
