Florence Saves Clothes - Sewing Refresher
Event description
Many of us have learnt the basics of sewing at some point in our lives, but if we haven't been practising those skills we forget them pretty quickly.
Here at Florence Saves Clothes, we've found that some of our workshop attendees would have liked a bit of a refresher before they set to work on fixing pants and other garments. So we got to thinking and came up with The Florence Saves Clothes Sewing Refresher!
It's a 75 minute workshop for those wanting to learn or relearn the basics of sewing - high value but short and sweet :) With this knowlegde under your belt you'll be amazed at what you can start to do to save your own clothes and reduce what goes to landfill.
Join like-minded people to learn how the sewing machine works, how to sew or mend basic seams and understand why it's important to press work (iron it) as you go for various jobs. You'll also learn a couple of helpful hand sewing techniques that you can expand on at home. Once you've done this class, you'll be ready to join one of our themed workshops or sewing socials.
Sewing machines, needles, some basic threads, some old clothes to patch with and the odd interesting button provided. If you'd like to work on something of your own, bring it along and we'll see what we can do to fix the garment and develop everyone's skills together.
We welcome up to 10 people to our sewing refreshers, so don't wait too long to book!
