Just imagine how boring life would be without FODI. Feast for FODI and join the fight to eradicate all boring conversations one dinner party at a time. Book your place at the table for FODI’s fundraising dinner hosted at Kitchen by Mike in Sydney’s CBD.

Some of your favourites will be joining you as guest provocateurs in raucous conversation to stoke the fires! These include former BBC political correspondent Nick Bryant, philosopher Tim Dean, political philosopher and academic Luara Ferracioli, social researcher and author Rebecca Huntley, thought leader Simon Longstaff, film and tv critic Wenlei Ma, investigative journalist Kate McClymont, artificial intelligence expert Toby Walsh, and more.

These days there is so much we dare not talk about … well, in true FODI fashion, we’re gonna go there! Sex, drugs, democracy and more as you savour Executive Chef Mike McEnearney’s delectable menu and help us secure funds for FODI. You know the rules: what happens at the Feast stays at the Feast…

Your feasting will directly fuel dangerous ideas getting to the stage for 2024.

• Ticket price: $200 – Every seat sold supports FODI
• Date: Friday 25 August 2023
• Doors open at 6pm if you wish to purchase a pre-dinner drink
• Kick off: 6:30pm
• Location: Kitchen By Mike, 1/7 Bent St, Sydney NSW 2000

On the night

• Each ticket treats you to a three-course meal and one bespoke FODI cocktail (non-alcoholic available).
• Additional drinks are available to purchase at the bar.
• FODI & Kitchen by Mike share a love of community, the menu is set and designed to be shared.
• We’ll do our very best to accommodate dietary requests (please remember to include for each ticket when you book).
• Be prepared to interact with new FODI friends. Groups on one booking of up to 6 will be seated together.
• Guest provocateurs are subject to change without notice.
• Its a fundraiser! Every seat sold supports FODI. If you’ve got more to give – we’ll take it. You can donate when you book and we’ve got a raffle, live pledge and more fun on the night.

Since 2009 Festival of Dangerous Ideas has brought you an independent, feisty, thought-provoking festival. Striving to bring you bold speakers, artists and experiences that were unexpected, perhaps uncomfortable but always unerringly authentic. You’ve turned up in droves to do danger with us. Thank you.

It’s 2023. Has there been a more urgent time for us to hold space for daring thought and respectful conversations about difficult topics? It’s one year until FODI is slated to take over Carriageworks in Winter 2024. We’ve never shied away from truth.  So, here’s our dangerous truth: FODI need funds to get there.

In the unlikely event that Festival of Dangerous Ideas does not proceed in 2024, the funds will be used by The Ethics Centre, presenter of FODI, to explore dangerous topics through other events or content.
