Folk Runs in the Family: Song Brother & Annuir

Folk runs in the family — and on Saturday 18 July, Petersham Bowling Club plays host to two acts who prove it. Song Brother brings together Anthony Woolcott, Miguel Heatwole and Sophie Moore in a trio built on 25 years of Gaelic singing tradition. Three voices, close harmony, and a bodhrán — weaving ancient folk songs with unexpected journeys, from Tolkien’s Middle Earth to reimagined prog-rock. “An exquisite intertwining of heavenly voices.” — Fran Robertson, Numeralla.

Annuir is Fiona McVicar (fiddle/vocals) and Ken O’Neill (octave mandolin/guitar) — two of Sydney’s most respected Celtic musicians, known to many through Kejafi — joined by their daughter Ais on whistle. Though newly formed, Ais is already NSW Folk Federation Young Artist of the Year 2024, and together they bring a sound that is deeply rooted in the Irish and Scottish tradition and unmistakably alive. Two acts. One night. The folk tradition in very good hands.

Getting to The PBC! Access to the club and main stage is via 12 stairs at the front of the venue. We are not wheelchair accessible currently but we are working on it! There is free, untimed parking on the avenue and Brighton Street and drop off/pick up is available via our driveway.

Access to the green room / downstairs stage is via 15 stairs down onto the ground level. If you have special access needs please email or call us ahead of time and we will do our best to plan with you and help you into the club.
