Found in Nature: Transform a Personal Treasure into Silver Jewellery (Adelaide)

Turn a small piece of nature into jewellery you can keep

What if a shell from a beach walk, a leaf from your garden or a seed pod found on a favourite trail could become a piece of jewellery?

Created especially for Nature Festival 2026, Found in Nature invites you to bring a small, naturally found treasure and transform its textures into a unique fine silver pendant or earrings.

Your experience begins before the workshop. Spend some time outdoors, slow down and choose something that catches your attention, not because it is rare or perfect, but because it holds an interesting texture, memory or connection to place.

What you’ll do

• Create a one part mould from your chosen natural object

• cast the mould using silver clay

• sand and refine your casted object

• Choose a suitable jewellery finding to attach to your design

After the workshop, Shirley will kiln-fire and polish your piece. You will then collect your finished fine silver pendant or pair of earrings following days subject to the firing schedule.

What to bring & What’s included

Please bring 2 or 3 small natural objects (prefer size 1-3cm, no bigger than 5cm) so we can select the one that will produce the best result.

Suitable objects may include:

• Textured leaves or ferns

• Seed pods and small pieces of bark

• Shells

• Small coastal or garden finds with finer texture

A small collection of botanicals and shells will also be available if your chosen object is unsuitable for casting.

All workshop materials and tools are included, with additional silver clay to purchase for larger size pieces.

Who is it for?

This beginner-friendly workshop is suitable for ages 12 and over. No previous jewellery-making experience is required.

Accessibility

The Adelaide CBD studio is located on the first floor and is accessible by stairs only.
