Framing Workshop
This workshop is focussed on the use of mat cutting devices to produce framing mats, fit them into frames and prepare the artworks for hanging in the gallery. Attendees will produce a finished framed artwork of their own in a pre-made frame.
What will be covered in this course?
Colour matching for mats to the artwork.
Choosing the correct frame size.
Positioning artwork in mat and measuring techniques for centering.
Securing the mat in the frame.
Preparing the frame for hanging.
By the end of this course students will have learnt?
How to frame a piece of artwork in a pre-made frame.
THIS CLASS IS FOR: Adults
REQUIRED MATERIALS
· Artwork
· Mat board for final framing
· Several D rings and appropriate quantity of suitable wire (Hardware store)
· Frame, including backing board of some description
· Ruler
· Pencil
PROVIDED MATERIALS
Small quantities of mat board for practice cutting will be available, a cutting mat, point driver for framing. A framing mat cutting device and other tools will be available.

About the Tutor
Paul Millard is a retired secondary teacher of Physical Science.
He has been framing his own artworks and works of others for over a decade. He has just completed his eleventh Cigar Box Guitar using his woodworking and design skills. He has presented his Science Discovery Project tutorials to young students throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland over the last 12 years.
