From Awareness to Action: A Student's Guide to Sustainable Living
Event description
Want to live more sustainably but unsure where to begin?
Join us for a hands-on workshop in the Wade Institute Garden Room designed to help you make smarter, more conscious lifestyle and purchasing choices. You'll learn how to identify greenwashing, understand what sustainability really means, and explore how your everyday decisions can have real social and environmental impact.
The session will involve a number of fast-paced group activities designed to challenge your assumptions about what sustainability and greenwashing actually are, followed by short presentations from industry experts working in sustainability and conscious consumerism. You'll then use all the learnings from the workshop to create your own Responsible Action Plan to help you live more ethically and intentionally.
Hear from speakers working across activism, circular fashion, and ethical consumption:
Erin Rhoads - Co-founder of Zero Waste Victoria, a community organization dedicated to zero waste living, and Author of Waste Not
Anahi Torres - Founder of Thread Journal, an Instagram channel advocating for more circular fashion choices
Jenna Flood - Founder of The Ironic Minimalist, a slow fashion blog and advocates platform
Whether you're new to the world of sustainable living or already passionate about it, this workshop will give you fresh insights, new tools, and practical next steps to take action—starting now.
Please note that workshop participants will also be provided with a $20 Prezzee voucher for their participation, as insights from the workshop will be used to craft future workshop designs from Conscious Collective.
