Full-Frontal Facilitation
Event description
About The Workshop
“Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.” - Victor Borges.
This workshop is intended for people with some improvisation experience (at least six months is recommended) who are interested in facilitating either Actor's Improvisation (improvisation intended for a public audience) or Applied Improvisation (improvisation in therapeutic or organisational contexts). This includes improv teachers, jam/team facilitators, improv coaches, and improvisers who facilitate in their professional or personal lives.
We’ll explore a few key elements of great facilitation:
- Creating, maintaining, and negotiating boundaries.
- Balancing safety and risk with a group (as well as your own).
- Balancing freedom and form (moving between hands-on coaching and free play).
- Balancing your expertise and their experience (moving between telling and asking).
- Managing relationships of power and privilege which might exist in the room.
We will use roleplay and real-life scenarios to explore the workshops main outcomes. There will be a lot of space created for debrief and application to your own context.
