Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) invites funeral directors and funeral workers to participate in an industry workshop exploring the current and future workforce needs of the funeral services sector.
This workshop is an opportunity for people working directly in funeral services to share their experience of how work is undertaken today, how roles and skill requirements are changing, how people develop their capabilities, and what the workforce may need into the future.
The workshop will explore:
Jobs, roles and career pathways: The roles and work functions across funeral services, how people enter the industry, how roles are changing, and opportunities for career progression.
Skills and technical capability: The skills, knowledge and technical capabilities needed across funeral services roles, including deceased transfers, mortuary operations, preparation, embalming and funeral operations, and where capability requirements are changing.
Working with families and communities: The communication, interpersonal, cultural and service capabilities needed to work effectively with grieving families and diverse communities.
Learning, experience and capability development: How workers develop their skills and capabilities through formal training, workplace learning, mentoring and industry experience, and how existing skills and experience can be recognised.
Leadership and career development: The capabilities needed by experienced practitioners, supervisors, managers and future business owners, and the pathways available to progress into these roles.
Changing industry and future workforce: How consumer expectations, personalisation, cultural practices, technology, digital services and new service models are changing work, and the skills and capabilities the funeral services workforce may need towards 2035.
Who should attend:
