Description

How do local businesses, jobs and economic activity contribute to the places we value?

What helps a community thrive?

Is it the local businesses that bring life to our town centres? The jobs and services that support everyday life? The visitors who help sustain tourism, hospitality and local enterprise?

As part of the Future Mundaring journey, we're inviting local business owners, workers, industry representatives, tourism operators and economic development stakeholders to take part in a roundtable discussion exploring the relationship between our local economy, community wellbeing and the places we call home.

The Shire of Mundaring is embarking on an important community conversation about our identity and future: what we value, what makes our places distinctive, and how we want to respond to growth and change in the years ahead. These roundtable discussions bring together people with different experiences, perspectives and areas of expertise to explore the themes that will help guide future decision-making across the Shire.

This roundtable will focus on the role that businesses, employment, tourism and economic activity play in creating vibrant communities, thriving town centres and a strong sense of place.

Together, participants will explore how the local economy contributes to the character and prosperity of Mundaring, and how future planning, investment and place-keeping initiatives can support economic resilience, local enterprise and sustainable growth.

Discussions will consider the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across the Shire and explore how economic development can support both community outcomes and business success. Participants will also examine the relationship between jobs, services, tourism, industry, community wellbeing and the physical environment, and how these connections influence the future of our towns, villages and neighbourhoods.

Your insights will help build a shared understanding of how economic activity shapes the identity of the Shire and will inform the development of place-based priorities and guidelines that reflect the aspirations, strengths and distinctive character of Mundaring's communities.

Who should participate?

We're seeking people who own, operate, work in, or represent a business, industry, economic development, tourism or related organisation with a connection to Mundaring.

Whether your perspective comes from retail, hospitality, professional services, agriculture, tourism, home-based business, community enterprise or industry advocacy, your experience and local knowledge will help us better understand the opportunities and challenges facing the local economy.
