Future Mundaring - Identity - Country, Community and Place Roundtable
Description
How do Country, community and place shape who we are?
What gives a place its identity?
Is it the stories embedded in the landscape? The relationships between people and place? The traditions, knowledge and experiences that connect communities across generations?
As part of the Future Mundaring journey, we're inviting community representatives, organisations, leaders and active community members to take part in a roundtable discussion exploring the connections between Country, community and place, and the role they play in shaping the future of the Shire.
The Shire of Mundaring is embarking on an important community conversation about our identity and future: what we value, what makes our places distinctive, and how we want to respond to growth and change in the years ahead. These roundtable discussions bring together people with different experiences, perspectives and areas of expertise to explore the themes that will help guide future decision-making across the Shire.
This roundtable will focus on the relationship between Country, culture, community and place, and how these connections contribute to the character, resilience and wellbeing of Mundaring's communities.
The conversation will also explore the role of Indigenous enterprise, cultural tourism, land management, arts, education and community leadership in strengthening local identity and creating opportunities that benefit both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.
Alongside these perspectives, participants will discuss the important contribution of community networks, environmental organisations, social services, recreation groups, heritage organisations and volunteers in creating connected, inclusive and thriving places.
Your insights will help build a richer understanding of what makes Mundaring unique and how the values, relationships and cultural foundations of our communities can be reflected in future planning, investment and place-based decision-making.
Who should participate?
We're seeking people who represent or actively participate in community, cultural, environmental, sporting, heritage, service, not-for-profit, volunteer, Aboriginal or advocacy organisations and networks connected to Mundaring.
We welcome participants from established organisations, grassroots community groups and local networks, as well as individuals who play an active or leadership role in community life.
