Why is Galilee School special?

Galilee School changes lives.

The school is designed specially to provide a supportive environment for disadvantaged young people in Years 7-12, who have struggled in mainstream environments.

At Galilee School, we give students a second chance (or maybe their best chance) for success. We support them to build futures they never thought possible.

Because we provide so much more than just education...

Our unique wrap-around care philosophy focuses on developing students’ educational, emotional, social and career needs.
We aim for a staff-to-student ratio of 1:5.
Our dedicated Student Support Team provides high-level individual and customised support.
We don’t charge any mandatory school fees.
We provide everything they need for success, including food, resources and equipment.
We transport students to and from school.
We accompany students and families when they engage with other community services.
We help our College students find appropriate housing if they need it.

Why the School Needs Your Help

But this life-changing work is expensive – and only possible with the support of the Canberra community.

We’re deeply grateful for the government funding and community donations we receive, but it’s not enough to meet the costs of such specialised education.

Thank you for choosing to join us at our Black Friday Ball. Your support will directly contribute to the success of our students and inspire them to reach their full potential and graduate with hope, confidence and the skills to follow their dreams.

What Our Students Say

Students share the crucial impact the school has made on their lives:

“I’m not only alive because of you … but truly living.”
“Galilee is like no other school I’ve ever been to. It’s made me a better person.”
“I realised I’d never truly had a home until I felt entirely safe and cared for here at Galilee.”
“You’ve given me hope. The world seems brighter, and I’ve found the sparkle you inspired.”

What Our Parents Say

“At Galilee, education is about more than just academics. It’s about providing children with the right skills to navigate life with respect for themselves and others. It’s about teaching empathy and attention to students’ individuality. This is unparalleled anywhere else we have been.”
