The key to successful gardening is healthy soil. Learn some easy ways to achieve premium soil quality in your garden using organic permaculture techniques, and the steps to understanding soil, such as:

  • Identify parent material (Clay, Sand or loam) 
  • Check structure- how much organic matter, texture (course or silky) 
  • Does it hold water or does it run off- it might be hydrophobic 
  • Undertake pH test. Is your soil alkaline or acidic? 
  • What key nutrients are available? 

Accessibility: If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully please let us know. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and has an accessible toilet, lift access to the library car park and a hearing loop is available.

This workshop is presented by Inner West Council. Entry is free for residents of the Inner West Council area and priority will be given to Inner West residents. If you are unsure you can search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area.
