The key to successful gardening is healthy soil. Learn some easy ways to achieve premium soil quality in your garden using organic permaculture techniques, and the steps to understanding soil, such as:

Identify parent material (Clay, Sand or loam)
Check structure- how much organic matter, texture (course or silky)
Does it hold water or does it run off- it might be hydrophobic
Undertake pH test. Is your soil alkaline or acidic?
What key nutrients are available?
