This four-day, 20-hour workshop series is designed for university instructors seeking to engage with Generative AI in a meaningful, responsible, and discipline relevant way. Rather than focusing on passive consumption of AI outputs, the series emphasizes active use, ethical integration, and pedagogical alignment taking you quickly from learner to leader.

Each session builds on the previous, from foundational readiness and moving through classroom applications, professional contexts, and prompt engineering. Participants will work primarily with institution-supported tools and techniques are transferable across platforms including Claude, Copilot, Gemini, and GPT.

Sessions are practical and artifact-driven: participants will leave with usable outputs, strategies, and tools tailored to their teaching and research. Discipline-specific examples are adapted in-session to reflect participant backgrounds, ensuring relevance and applicability. While formal institutional policies are still evolving, the series aligns with current practices and encourages participants to identify and navigate potential gaps.

Session 1, Oct 9: GenAI Readiness – Foundations for Ethical and Effective Use

What is Generative AI, really? How does it work, and what does it mean for your discipline, your classroom, and society? This session demystifies GenAI through practical exploration of its terminology, capabilities, limitations, and ethical dimensions. You’ll leave with a set of tools and strategies to begin using GenAI thoughtfully and responsibly in your work.

Session 2, Oct 16: GenAI in the Classroom – From Possibility to Practice

Move beyond the question of “Should I use AI?” and explore how to use it effectively. This session focuses on curriculum aligned integration of GenAI into learning outcomes, assessments, and activities. You’ll leave with practical strategies and artifacts for scaffolding AI use in your classroom, ethically and with academic integrity.

Session 3, Oct 30: GenAI in Context – From Industry to Institution

Generative AI is transforming industries, research, and student support. This session explores how GenAI is being used beyond the classroom and what that means for post-secondary educators. You’ll engage with practical tools, examine institutional considerations, and leave with strategies and artifacts for responsible, cross contextual AI use.

Session 4, Nov 13: Prompt Engineering – From Commands to Collaboration

Prompts are the key to unlocking GenAI’s potential. This session explores how prompt structure shapes output, and how educators can design prompts that are purposeful, repeatable, and creative. You’ll leave with a toolkit of prompt strategies and the confidence to treat GenAI as a colleague, not just a tool.
