An evening of acoustic music and story-telling by two Melbourne-based musicians.
Double-bill : Gerry Kennedy & Jason Khaw. Jason will be joined by Phil Sheppard on bass and Fabio Rubino on percussion.
Gerry Kennedy and Jason Khaw will perform songs from their respective albums, intertwined with the stories behind the music. Gerry Kennedy’s debut album ‘Our Backyard’ has quickly become a cult classic - expect to hear songs and stories about packed bars, backyards and the good old days living in the inner north of Melbourne. Jason Khaw returns to Open Studio and will perform songs from his albums, ‘Freedom Badge’ and ‘Peace River’. He will tell stories of identity, mis-identity, kinship and a special tree. Jason will be accompanied by Phil Sheppard on bass and Fabio Rubino on percussion. All four musicians will then come together for an interpretation of everyone's favourite Beatles songs. Of course, they will do it their way.
