  • Safe and correct use of core power tools

  • Techniques for cutting, shaping, fixing, and finishing

  • Renovation skills you can apply at home

  • Confidence to take on your own projects

Tools You’ll Be Trained On (with Real-Life Scenarios):

Circular Saw + Speed Square
Learn how to make clean, straight cuts — ideal for trimming timber for feature walls, bench tops, floating shelves, or cutting down framing timber for outdoor projects.

Jigsaw
Master cutting curves and internal cut-outs — like removing a section of benchtop to install a sink or shaping timber for custom shelving or furniture.

Planer
Learn to fix swollen or misaligned doors by shaving down edges for a perfect fit — no more sticking doors or jammed frames.

Fixing Gun (Nail Gun)
Get confident with brad nailers to attach skirtings, install wall panelling, build timber trims, or finish small cabinetry work with a professional look.

Framing Gun
You won’t be building frames in this workshop — but you’ll get a go at using this powerful tool safely and confidently, so it’s no longer something to fear.

Router
Practice routing clean, rounded edges on doors, tables, and benches — or cut decorative grooves and joinery for furniture projects.

Multitool
Handle awkward cuts with ease — like cutting into plasterboard for a power point, trimming door jambs to fit new flooring, or removing damaged sections of timber.

Sander
Use power sanders to prep surfaces for painting or staining — perfect for refinishing a tabletop, smoothing out decking timber, or finishing your timber board.

Essential Bonus Tools:

Spade Bit
Learn how to drill large holes through timber — ideal for running cables, plumbing, bolt fixings, or installing hardware in doors and frames. A must-have skill for cabinetry, decking, and general renovation work.

Hole Saw
Get hands-on with hole saws for neat circular cuts — perfect for sink holes, downlights, or pipe access through benches and panels.
