    Event description

The Gippsland Forest Dialogue is hosting our fourth dialogue in Yarram on November 10-11, 2023. This dialogue will focus on the theme of 'plantations in the landscape' with all ticket holders receiving additional information before the event.

The Gippsland Forest Dialogue is a new initiative founded by a group of passionate Gippslanders from all walks of life who have come together to talk about how best to look after our forests and explore possible futures for forests in the Gippsland region. We believe that traditional custodianship, biodiversity, forestry, water, recreation, tourism, production and bushfire risk management are fundamentally interconnected and interdependent parts of our forests. Our mission is to work together to explore these difficult forest and land use issues and find collaborative solutions and positive change.

The Gippsland Forest Dialogue aims to build understanding and agreement among stakeholders around the opportunities, challenges and knowledge gaps related to [the management and lack of management of] forests in Gippsland. The Dialogue creates a space for diverse stakeholders to come together to talk about how best to look after the region’s forests, for people and planet, and to explore, agree on and facilitate collaborative actions that bring about these positive changes. The Dialogue is independent and local. We have no government funding, no preconceived decisions or agendas, and no collective association with peak bodies, interest groups, political parties or movements. We do not favour the interests of one group or sector and all options and opportunities are on the table. We want to learn from the lessons of the past and try to succeed where previous attempts have failed.

This ticket gives you entry, a bus ride for the field trip, lunch and snacks, and a safe place to have respectful, honest discussion about Gippsland's Forests.

Like all our dialogues, we engage in a respectful manner, and use Chatham house rules. By obtaining a ticket to our dialogue, you are agreeing to join the GFD process.
