    Get ready to spice up your holiday season with a unique and flavourful native Christmas feast! Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where you'll explore the vibrant world of native ingredients. We'll kick things off with a leisurely stroll around Northey Street City Farm, discovering the wonderful bushfoods growing right under our noses. Then, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and cook up a festive spread – from a mouthwatering main dish to tasty sides, refreshing drinks, and a scrumptious dessert. All bursting with the delicious flavours of First Nations cuisine. It's a perfect way to celebrate the season with something special.

    In this workshop you will be led by one of Australia's top First Nations chefs and will:

    • gain the confidence in using native ingredients in your cooking
    • enjoy the tastes of Australia's unique bush foods 
    • be provided with Chris's special bush food recipes
    • have the ability to create exciting bush tukka cuisine for your festive table!

    What's on the menu?

    • Whole roast fish with native ginger and myrtles (gf)
    • Orange myrtle carrots with native dukkah (vgf)
    • Bunya nut stuffing with native spices (vgf)
    • Bush mulled wine sangria - Nonalcoholic option (vgf)
    • Native Trifle with native summer fruits

    Youth Offer

    This workshop is suitable for teenagers, accompanied by mum, dad or another adult guardian, who has also paid to attend the workshop.

    First Nations people offer

    Folks who identify as First Nations will receive a 10% discount.


    About the Facilitator

    Chef and owner of Brisbane-based food events and products company Three Little Birds, Chris Jordan, connects with his First Nations ancestry through cooking with native ingredients. Alongside his business, he has held collaborative, pop-up dinners that grapple conceptually and gastronomically with Indigenous food sovereignty, cultural dispossession and climate change. Using native ingredients, ancient knowledge of customs and techniques to make food that doesn’t just taste good but also works to acknowledge, educate, and celebrate the unique culture and natural resources Australia has to offer.
