Join us as we hear their stories of resilience, vision, and entrepreneurship - a testament to the vital role immigrants play in building a greener, more equitable future for our city.

    Giulia Luci, Senior Technical Climate Analyst, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development

    Giulia Luci is a Senior Technical Climate Analyst with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) where she is an integral part in supporting the mission of promoting quality and affordability in the city’s housing, and diversity and strength in the city’s neighborhoods. Giulia utilizes her expertise in design and sustainability to support the development and execution of high performance affordable housing projects.

    Prior to joining HPD, Giulia worked for almost seven years at Steven Winter Associates as a Sr. Sustainability Consultant where she focused on residential new construction projects pursuing program certifications such as LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and EPA ENERGY STAR. Giulia grew up in Rome and now lives in Brooklyn. She has a B.S. and M.S .of Architectural Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma and an M.S. of Civil Engineering from NYU. 

    Indrajeet Vishwanathan, Director Energy Management and Sustainability, Columbia University

    Indrajeet “Jeet” is in charge of a portfolio of real estate space in New York City. He has been in the energy and sustainability industry for over a decade, first as a consultant and then as a facility owner representing four million square feet of space. His diverse experience has enabled him to provide the
    best solutions for his organization. Jeet is one of the few individuals in NYC who has calculated the cost required to achieve net-zero emissions for his portfolio. He has created a 20-year plan to comply with local laws (97,88), Science Based Targets, and New York City’s 80x50 goal. Jeet understands both the energy side and the sustainability side of the business that provides a potent combination of knowledge that otherwise would be siloed under two different trades. He is aware of strategies for compliance with all the existing local laws related to energy and sustainability in New York City and can easily transfer this knowledge to other regions in or across United States. Jeet's projects have earned him numerous awards for energy efficiency on local, state, and national levels.  Jeet holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and two master's degrees, one in energy from The George Washington University and one in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in New York City. He has worked in India, the Middle East, and North America and can fluently converse in four languages.

    Zeeshan Mohammed, Technical Implementations Project Manager, Verdigris

    Zeeshan is a Technical Implementations Project Manager at Verdigris, a pioneering startup specializing in AI-based smart sensor technology for building electrical panels. This technology enables proactive equipment maintenance, accurate energy forecasting, and advanced sustainability reporting. Originally from India, Zeeshan has successfully navigated the challenges of immigration to make significant contributions in the field of sustainability. With a background in leading projects that enhance energy efficiency and sustainability, Zeeshan has led initiatives that streamlined processes, and reduced operational costs, contributing significantly to sustainable building management practices. Committed to promoting sustainable practices, Zeeshan is passionate about leveraging technology to create a more sustainable future for all
