Grief, Resilience and Realities
Description
In collaboration with GriefWise WA, we are offering a gentle space for care partners only to explore and unpack the cumulative losses and grief that may show up unexpectedly on the young dementia journey, and which often go unrecognised.
Three widows who have cared for and supported their partners with young onset dementia will share their journeys from pre-diagnosis to end of life and beyond, facilitating an open conversation.
This session will bring a compassionate and understanding approach to exploring anticipatory grief and ambiguous loss in all its forms. These may include:
the loss of employment and financial security,
the loss of a planned or imagined future,
the uncertainty of not knowing what lies ahead for you and your loved one,
the ongoing weight of living with complexity over time and having to hold the space for our loved ones.
We encourage you to bring an item that connects you to a loved one.
This event celebrates Dementia Action Week 2026: It's time to talk about dementia.
