Event description

Effective leadership in the F&B manufacturing sector requires more than technical skills. This interactive workshop will equip leaders with tools to better manage themselves and their teams - and help to retain top talent.

You will learn:

  • The foundations of emotional intelligence and its relevance to leadership

  • The four quadrants of emotional intelligence, with a deep dive into self-awareness

  • Techniques to develop and strengthen emotional intelligence

  • Leading diverse teams and the importance of inclusive leadership

  • Coaching in the workplace

  • Conflict resolution: styles, skills, and when to use them

  • Habits and behaviours of highly effective leaders

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Correlate the concepts of emotional intelligence and effective leadership.

  • Identify the need for improving self-awareness

  • Apply practical strategies to strengthen your emotional intelligence in a leadership context.

  • Recognise the value of diversity and inclusion in team leadership and workplace culture.

  • Use the GROW model to structure coaching conversations and support team development.

  • Identify different conflict resolution styles and choose the most appropriate approach for various workplace situations.

  • Apply key habits and behaviours of effective leaders to enhance your leadership presence and decision-making.

  • Reflect on your personal leadership style and create an action plan for ongoing growth.

How you'll learn:
You'll complete an 8-hour in-person workshop.

  • Includes interactive learning activities, group discussion, reflection exercises, and practical tools

About your presenter: 
Mashhuda Carrigan is a food technologist with 9 years of experience in food safety, quality, and primary processing of eggs and high-risk, ready-to-eat products. She holds a Master’s in Food Science and Technology from The University of Queensland. Additionally, she completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. As an Educator at UQ Skills, Mashhuda co-leads training programs in the Applied Sciences department. She is passionate about lifelong learning and creating inclusive, meaningful learning experiences, particularly for students from CALD backgrounds.

This workshop will be presented in collaboration with FaBA, Australia’s Food and Beverage Accelerator.
