Guided Kayak Tour - Ironbark Creek
Event description
Guided Kayaking + Walking Tour - Ironbark Creek
Experience the rich biodiversity of the RAMSAR-listed Hunter Estuary as we glide through the mangrove-fringed Ironbark Creek and its tributaries on a small group guided kayak tour. Hear stories of the history and heritage of Ironbark Creek and Hexham Swamp area, the impact of the historic Maitland Flood of 1955 and the catchment's transition between salt and freshwater environments. After refreshments in the rainforest we will continue our tour on foot through the wetlands. As we keep an eye out for the diverse birdlife that frequents the area, including Osprey, Egrets and waterfowl, we will discuss wildlife conservation projects undertaken by the Hunter Wetlands Centre and how we propose to build a sustainable and resilient future.
