✋ HAND REFLEXOLOGY – VICTORIA

A Practical One-Day Introduction to Hand Reflexology

Discover the fascinating world of hand reflexology in this practical, hands-on Victorian training day with Yve Frankcombe.

Hand reflexology is a valuable skill for anyone interested in complementary therapies and is an excellent addition to an existing reflexology, massage, beauty or wellness practice.

This course is designed to take you through the foundations of hand reflexology from preparation through to completing a full hand reflexology treatment.

The emphasis is on practical learning. You will watch demonstrations, practise the techniques yourself and receive guidance throughout the day so that by the end of the course you have experienced how to put the techniques together into a complete treatment.

WHAT IS HAND REFLEXOLOGY?

Hand reflexology is a complementary therapy that applies specific techniques and pressure to areas of the hands referred to as reflex areas.

The course introduces students to reflexology theory, hand reflexology maps and the practical techniques used to work systematically across the hands.

It can be particularly useful when working with clients who:

  • Prefer their hands to their feet being worked

  • Are unable to comfortably receive a foot treatment

  • Want a shorter or alternative reflexology treatment

  • Are receiving other complementary therapies

  • Simply enjoy having their hands worked

Hand reflexology can also be incorporated into a broader reflexology treatment where appropriate.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The day begins with the foundations and gradually builds towards completing a full hand reflexology treatment.

Understanding Reflexology

You will explore:

  • What reflexology is

  • The principles of reflexology

  • The history and development of reflexology

  • Reflexology zones

  • Reflexology maps

  • How reflex areas are represented on the hands

  • The relationship between the hands and the body within reflexology theory

  • How reflexology can be incorporated into complementary therapy practice

HAND OBSERVATION

Before starting treatment, students will learn how to look at the hands and consider the presentation of the area being worked.

This may include observing:

  • Skin condition

  • Colour

  • Temperature

  • Texture

  • Tension

  • Dryness

  • Areas of sensitivity

  • Swelling or changes that may require consideration

  • Nails and surrounding tissue
