Healing Narratives: A Therapeutic Book Club | September 2024
Event description
Healing Narratives is a community offering creating space for those interested in continuing their self exploration through reading. Hosted by a licensed therapist, Devin Hendrickson, LICSW, this book club is a safe space to process how therapeutic-related books impact your healing and personal growth. Books are a rich resource in therapeutic healing, and when combined with community they can be a powerful aid in the healing process.
This book club might be for you if any of the below resonates with you:
- You connect with the themes and concepts of the book chosen for the month.
- You benefit from talking through therapeutic concepts.
- You don't have access to therapeutic services, and want a space led by a licensed therapist to better understand yourself through reading.
- You're looking for a space where others are experiencing similar challenges to validate and understand you.
- You enjoy reading and want to develop personal insight.
Come join us to discuss how these narratives help inform our therapeutic work-- We'd love to have you!
SEPTEMBER’S BOOK SELECTION
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents By Lindsay C. Gibson, Psy.D.
Growing up with emotionally immature or unavailable care-takers can leave an adult with lingering feelings of anger, loneliness, betrayal, abandonment, and confusion. Having your feelings dismissed and taking on adult levels of responsibility as a child in an effort to compensate for your parent's behavior can cause long-term wounds. Let's dive into beginning to understand the impacts of our childhood, and how to navigate healing from these childhood wounds to move forward toward a healthy adulthood.
