Description

Holly Head • Georgian • Hauspoints

The Blind Tiger, Rawtenstall, Rossendale (FREE)

Three of the very best rising bands from Manchester and Lancashire come together for the first of a series of free-entry showcases as part of Gather@ on Friday 26 June, featuring Holly Head, Georgian, and Hauspoints.

Committed and controversial, Manchester’s rising, kinetic, beat-powered, four-piece, Holly Head, are riding a wave with their groove packed sound and mind blowing, energetic live

shows.

Georgian are a Manchester-based band signed to Heist or Hit Records. Their sound blends psych-western textures with dreamlike indie tones, rich vocal harmonies, and evocative songwriting. Drawing influence from classic storytelling traditions and the atmospheric landscapes of artists like Big Thief and Mazzy Star, Georgian bring a uniquely Northern lens to the contemporary indie scene.

Exploring a distinctly northern viewpoint on modernity, Hauspoint songs are like a love letter to popular culture, finding beauty in the mundane minutiae and celebrating the quirkiness of human existence.

Established on a dilapidated industrial estate at the foot of an overgrown hill in darkest Lancashire, their debut album, Eel Feeling, is a beat-heavy rasp that treads an unfurrowed path aside multiple genres without straying too far into the obscure

    Holly Head

Committed and controversial, Manchester’s rising kinetic, beat-powered four-piece, Holly Head, are riding a wave with their groove-packed sound and mind-blowing, energetic live shows. Joy, abandon, and collective release accompany the band on stage, setting off an incomparable rush of Afrobeat, post-hardcore, and Donna Summer fever in service of the band’s activist objectives. While *Whatever Drags You Through It* tramples oncomers with Holly Head’s fractious, electrifying, funked-up new-wave punk, every lyrical line retains a sense of purpose for those choosing to hear it. Fearless, the band looks both inward and outward to challenge stereotyping, hate, and delusion. Taking notoriety as a signal of connected audience sympathies and riding firmly on the right side of history, *No Gain* rushed Holly Head to the front of a proactive, politically motivated creative community. Written in a police cell following arrest under Britain’s protest laws, the song provided the key to their first BBC 6 Music live session, with the performance further cementing their uncompromising conviction and use of Holly Head’s music to profile urgent causes. In 2025, their scuffed and confrontational two-and-a-half-minute blast of incisive social commentary, *Whatever Drags You Through It*, hit home with Steve Lamacq. On 2026 release *No Country Is An Island*, singer and lyricist Joe Moss explains: > “The song is a reaction to the rise of anti-migrant and refugee views in England, where news and debate are framed to divide and conquer. We seem to have come to this point through the underfunding of public services and higher living costs, leaving people hanging on for their lives. We’re experiencing an acute ‘every person for themselves’ culture through media and political messaging that’s been present longer than all of us. > “The working title for the song was ‘Afrobeat’,” he continues. “Drawing from a lot of the Latin, Afro-Cuban, and trip-hop music which forms the basis of a lot of our writing, kicking off ideas from Liam’s basslines and Oscar’s drumming.” Building danceable agit-funk from the ground up — fomenting a patchwork of percussive patterns and indefatigable bass before razor-wire guitars and frontman Joe’s clarion-call vocals — Holly Head’s roll call of high-impact influences includes Wu-Lu, Happy Mondays, Kokoroko, Fugazi, Fela Kuti, and DJ Shadow.
